The assignment to write your Declaration of Independence can be divided into five sections.
The first section, which was written for you and that you are free to modify or totally rewrite, is the preamble. It basically says that you are a teenager and have the right to express your opinions when and if you are "educated" about the issue.
The second part is meant to echo the most famous line in The Declaration of Independence: We hold these truths to be self-evident: That all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. In this section of your declaration, you will use that type of language to state what "unalienable rights" you possess and what are your most sacred beliefs in relation to the point of your declaration. This need not be a long paragraph.
The next section is straightforward: You simply need to explain what the problem is in as much detail as possible, and why it is a problem, in as much detail as possible. Give examples, explain a lot.
The next section, if it applies to you, asks you to relate what attempts you have already made to remedy the problem. Describe these attempts and explain why the have been ineffective. If you have never done anything to try to make the situation better, suggest what might be done.
Finally, declare your independence. State that you will be free of the issue from now on. Suggest how you will make this happen. Explain how your life will be improved.
